Following weeks of cryptic social media posts and intense fan speculation, Married At First Sight’s Jacqui Burfoot and Clint Rice have finally acknowledged their relationship on the show. Monday night’s episode ended with a trailer for the upcoming reunion dinner party, where Jacqui and Clint shocked their co-stars by announcing that they are now dating.

While the couple are expected to explain the origins of their romance at the reunion – which was filmed four weeks after she ended things with Ryan Donnelly at Final Vows – she shared an insight into their relationship during a rogue radio interview on Tuesday morning. The 29-year-old opened up about the age gap between herself and Clint, 43, and revealed whether it’s impacted their relationship.

“[Clint] reached out to me and wanted to get to know me, and after Final Vows he did invite me down to Tassie to spend some time with him,” she told The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick.

“We do have a 14-year age gap, though, so I was a little bit nervous about that. But then after meeting him, the age gap didn’t matter. It just didn’t really affect us at all.”

Jacqui went on to share that she believes Clint was attracted to her on the show because of how different she is from the other female participants.

“If you speak to Clint, he will explain that out of the group, I was the most normal girl who had a life and was down to earth and doesn’t take herself too seriously and loves having a laugh,” she remarked.

“Obviously, Clint is a successful businessman, so we’re both going into business together now, which I’m absolutely stoked about. Life is looking great.”

Clint and Jacqui’s relationship timeline

A production insider tells Yahoo Lifestyle that Clint and Jacqui grew close towards the end of filming but didn’t get together until after the season wrapped. Although many previous MAFS ‘cheating scandals’ fizzled out after the show, things appear to be going strong for the controversial couple as Jacqui has already quit her job in Sydney and is now living with Clint in Tasmania.

“Neither of them are making any secret of their relationship and have been flaunting it on their socials,” our source shares. “The entire cast knows about it and they’ve since been iced out of the group.”

Clint defends Jacqui after controversial ‘edit’

During a recent interview with Yahoo Lifestyle, Clint praised Jacqui while calling out her controversial ‘edit’ on the reality show.

“She’s a really smart, career-driven girl, and to have her on there, they’re making her look like she’s all over the place and fake crying and all this sort of stuff where that’s not her,” he shared.

“How can you damage someone’s character like that? She’s a great person, she’s an attractive, smart girl that’s actually got some insecurities in a lot of ways, and they’ve made her sound like a person that loves herself, no one’s on her level, all these things that get thrown in there, which are frankenbites or frankenedits. It’s awful to see someone’s character get taken and put on TV like that.”
