LOS ANGELES − There’s already been an emotional Oscar moment the day before Sunday’s 97th Academy Awards kicks off (ABC and Hulu, 7 p.m. ET/4 PT).

During a casual Saturday morning rehearsal, two-time nominee Andrew Garfield walked to the front of the stage at the Dolby Theatre, hand in hand with fellow presenter Goldie Hawn, the favorite actress of Garfield’s mother, Lynn, who died in 2019.

The preview of their pairing has a practical purpose: Even the awards presentations on the film industry’s biggest night, hosted by Conan O’Brien, require practice.

You don’t want to be like Timothée Chalamet, who flubbed his Screen Actors Guild Awards presentation last weekend for “A Complete Unknown” and noted onstage, “Should’ve done a rehearsal.”

Sunday Oscars are an even bigger platform, where Hawn, 79, learned she might want to bring her glasses for the teleprompter. “Honey, can you read that,” Hawn said to Garfield, 41, who was a step ahead of her with his glasses on.

They practiced giving out two awards − best animated film, and best animated shorts − with Garfield struggling with the sealed envelope during one presentation.

While watching the screen in the dark on the stage, Garfield hugged Hawn with one arm and gently kissed her on the top of the head.

Hugs were going all around. Oprah Winfrey had a jovial reunion with her “The Color Purple” co-star Whoopi Goldberg. Both wore high heels to practice the potentially treacherous stage walk on Oscar night.

Miley Cyrus wore high-heel boots beneath flared jeans as the star took in the grandeur of the stage design before rehearsing her bit.

The male presenters veered the most to Saturday morning casual. Miles Teller wore a “The Late Show” T-shirt and baseball cap, while Sterling K. Brown showed up in shorts, white kicks and a hoodie. They’ll be in tuxes on Sunday night.

Wearing a floral jumpsuit, last year’s best supporting actress winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph practiced her presentation twice to make sure her return to the Oscars stage will go down perfectly.

“Poor Things” Oscar winner Emma Stone went full Method, walking on her toes to appear to be hobbling on heels to the microphone at center stage.

Stone gamely waved at the audience stand-ins, calling them by the famous names who will be seated during the Oscars. The actress started her presentation and stumbled.

“Oh, God, this is going to go so great,” said Stone, laughing at the flub. Her second try at giving out the fake award was a success. “This is for rehearsal, this isn’t really real,” she said, just to make sure.

Still, as the stand-ins walked onstage to accept the fake Oscar, Stone held her arms open wide and gave each a big congratulatory hug.
