Nikki Glaser would never approach Taylor Swift at an event.
The 40-year-old comedian is a huge fan of the chart-topping pop star, but Nikki – who recently spotted Taylor at the Grammy Awards – doesn’t want her to feel uncomfortable at all.
During an appearance on the ‘Armchair Expert’ podcast, Nikki shared: “Everyone wants a piece. I will never be the one to be like, ‘Excuse me,’ ever.
“It’s almost rude what I do when I’m in the same room as Taylor Swift, because I won’t even look her way. It will take [her tapping me on the shoulder].”
Nikki’s friends have actually encouraged her to reach out to Taylor. But the comedian doesn’t intend to change her approach.
She said: “There’s no way that she’s dying for that on a night like this where everyone’s doing it. And, of course, she would be so nice. I know exactly how it would go down.
But I don’t wanna take someone’s energy away [when] I require their energy to be put into making great music. I don’t want her to make a less great song because she had to be like, ‘Nice to meet you,’ and like, hold me as I’m crying.”
Nikki hosted the Golden Globes in January, but the comedian isn’t sure whether she’ll return to the role.
The stand-up star – who became the first solo female host in Golden Globes history – told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I keep seeing headlines that [say], ‘She’s got a deal to do three more [Golden Globes ceremonies]. I haven’t heard about this [offer] yet.”
Despite this, Glenn Weiss, the executive producer of the show, previously acknowledged that Nikki would be a “great” long-term host of the Golden Globes.
Glenn told Variety: “We absolutely had a great experience with her, and think that she would be great at this in the long term.”
Nikki Glaser, the sharp-witted comedian known for her unfiltered humor, recently made headlines with a surprising admission: she wouldn’t approach Taylor Swift at an event.
While this might seem like a casual comment, it’s sparked a wave of curiosity and speculation about what could possibly make Glaser, a confident and outspoken personality, hesitant to engage with one of the biggest stars in the world.
For many, Taylor Swift is the epitome of approachable celebrity charm. She’s known for her fan-friendly demeanor, her heartfelt interactions, and her ability to make anyone feel at ease.
From surprise visits to fans’ homes to her legendary Secret Sessions, Swift has built a reputation as someone who genuinely cares about her supporters.
So, why would Nikki Glaser, a fellow performer, feel reluctant to approach her? The answer lies in a mix of personal insecurities, professional respect, and the unique dynamic between two women in the spotlight.
Glaser, who has built her career on boldness and boundary-pushing comedy, revealed that her hesitation stems from a place of deep admiration.
She admitted that meeting someone as iconic as Swift would make her feel “too nervous” to strike up a conversation.
This admission is surprisingly relatable, even for someone as self-assured as Glaser. It’s a reminder that even celebrities experience the same starstruck moments as the rest of us.
The idea of meeting someone who has achieved such monumental success can be intimidating, no matter how famous or accomplished you are yourself.
But there’s more to Glaser’s reluctance than just nerves. She also hinted at the pressure of interacting with someone who is not only a global superstar but also a cultural phenomenon.
Taylor Swift’s influence extends far beyond music. She’s a trailblazer in the entertainment industry, a business mogul, and a vocal advocate for artists’ rights. For Glaser, approaching Swift would mean stepping into a space where the stakes feel incredibly high.
What if she says the wrong thing? What if the interaction doesn’t go as planned? These are the kinds of thoughts that can paralyze even the most confident individuals.
Glaser’s comments also shed light on the complexities of navigating celebrity interactions. While fans might fantasize about meeting their idols, the reality is often more complicated.
For celebrities, meeting another famous person can feel like walking a tightrope. There’s an unspoken expectation to be witty, charming, and memorable, all while maintaining a sense of authenticity.
For someone like Glaser, whose brand of humor thrives on irreverence and honesty, the pressure to perform in such a high-stakes scenario could feel overwhelming.
Interestingly, Glaser’s hesitation isn’t unique. Many celebrities have shared similar sentiments about feeling intimidated by their peers.
It’s a reminder that fame doesn’t necessarily erase self-doubt or insecurities. In fact, the constant scrutiny and pressure to maintain a flawless public image can amplify these feelings.
For Glaser, the fear of being judged or misunderstood by someone as influential as Swift might be enough to keep her at a distance.
At the same time, Glaser’s admission highlights the human side of celebrity culture.
It’s easy to forget that behind the glamorous facades and carefully curated personas, celebrities are just people. They experience the same emotions, insecurities, and vulnerabilities as anyone else.
Glaser’s candidness about her feelings toward Swift is a refreshing reminder of this reality. It breaks down the illusion of perfection and invites us to see celebrities as multidimensional individuals.
The dynamic between Glaser and Swift also raises questions about the nature of celebrity friendships.
In an industry where connections can often feel transactional, genuine relationships are rare. Glaser’s reluctance to approach Swift might stem from a desire to avoid falling into the trap of superficial networking.
For her, it’s not about using Swift’s fame to boost her own career. Instead, it’s about respecting Swift’s space and not forcing an interaction that doesn’t feel natural.
This perspective is particularly telling in an era where social media has blurred the lines between public and private life. Celebrities are constantly under pressure to document their every move, from red carpet appearances to casual hangouts.
The idea of approaching someone like Swift at an event comes with the added weight of potential public scrutiny. Would the interaction be captured on camera?
Would it be dissected by fans and media outlets? For Glaser, the thought of having a private moment turned into a public spectacle might be enough to keep her from reaching out.
Despite her hesitation, Glaser has nothing but praise for Swift. She’s spoken openly about her admiration for Swift’s talent, work ethic, and ability to connect with her audience.
In many ways, Glaser’s reluctance to approach Swift is a testament to the profound respect she has for the pop icon.
It’s not about envy or rivalry; it’s about recognizing the immense impact Swift has had on the entertainment industry and feeling humbled in her presence.
Glaser’s comments also invite us to reflect on our own interactions with people we admire. Whether it’s a celebrity, a mentor, or a role model, the fear of not measuring up is a universal experience.
Glaser’s honesty about her feelings toward Swift resonates because it taps into a shared human experience. It reminds us that it’s okay to feel nervous, intimidated, or unsure in the presence of someone we look up to.
Ultimately, Nikki Glaser’s admission about not approaching Taylor Swift at an event is more than just a celebrity soundbite.
It’s a window into the complexities of fame, the challenges of navigating social dynamics in the spotlight, and the universal experience of feeling starstruck. It’s a reminder that even the most confident and accomplished individuals have moments of self-doubt, and that’s perfectly okay.
In a world that often glorifies perfection, Glaser’s vulnerability is a breath of fresh air. It’s a reminder that authenticity, even in the face of insecurity, is something to be celebrated.
