Swift attended the show’s previous milestone when it celebrated its 40th year on the air.

This year, she wasn’t a part of the sketches and didn’t strut down the red carpet amid the ongoing allegations of a rift between her and longtime friends Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

During a conversation on Fly on the Wall, Saturday Night Live alum Dana Carvey claimed he watched the 50th Special with Swift and revealed her reaction to Reynolds’ joke.

They addressed Reynolds’ joke at the 50th Anniversary Special and also discussed the alleged rift between them and Swift.

“Okay so Blake and Ryan,” Spade started at the 4:33 mark. “Here’s my theory. Two theories about this whole thing that people have asked me. One: it was funny,” he said about Reynolds’ SNL joke.

The actor and Lively stepped out for an official event for the first time since the legal battle began and Reynolds even jumped in with his own joke.

During the Q&A segment hosted by SNL fan-favorites Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, they asked him how was it “going,” and Reynolds replied, “Great! Why, what have you heard?“

“Two: I think Taylor Swift did not come, she came last time to the 40th, but I think they’re in a bit of a snit. I hate to use these words, but I think there’s a little bit of minor friction possibly, I don’t know for sure,” Spade alleged during the episode.

To this, Carvey jumped in. “Oh yeah, I should insert this before you go any further. I watched the 50th with Taylor,” he alleged, before Spade responded, “Oh my God.”

Carvey continued, “Yeah, I know. We’re just friends, casual friends, and I don’t really go public with it, but she had a lot to say,” he claimed about Swift’s reaction to Reynolds’ on-air joke. They moved on before providing more details into Swift’s alleged response.

They further discussed Reynolds’ joke and Chris “Wally” Feresten’s claims that the Deadpool star suggested his joke. Saturday Night Live denied the claims in a statement, but the two former SNL members agreed with Feresten’s point of view that the show wouldn’t do anything controversial.

“He said we wouldn’t want anyone to do something that they weren’t in on, which is true. We’re not there to bamboozle a host or so, he had to be aware.”

Taylor Swift has been friends with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds for over a decade. She and Lively were spotted for the first time in 2014 when they visited the zoo in Australia and hung out together.

Reynolds became a very close friend, as well, and their relationship has been long documented on each other’s social media.

They were there for her during Swift’s brief romance with MCU’s Tom Hiddleston, supported her through the immense backlash she wrongly received over Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s edited phone call, and have shared the good and the bad.

Last year, it was revealed that Swift was also the godmother to the couple’s four children.

Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool & Wolverine, was also revealed to be the godfather of the couple’s fourth child, son Olin. Swift also shared her support for Deadpool & Wolverine, encouraging people to watch it.

She also allowed Lively to use her 2020 song, “My Tears Ricochet,” in It Ends With Us, a film she didn’t promote. She was also rumored to have had a hand in picking young Lily in the film, played by Isabella Ferrer.

Baldoni shared in an Access Hollywood interview over the summer that he showed Lively and Swift the casting tape, and they reportedly thought she was perfect for the role.

However, amid the allegations that Lively leveraged her name to get favors, Swift seemed to have backed off.

Rumors are that Swift feels “used” by Lively amid her calling her one of her dragons, alongside Reynolds, in an alleged message between Lively and Baldoni.

Swift and Lively were seen amid the Gossip Girl star’s backlash over the summer following the premiere, celebrating Lively’s birthday at Swift’s mansion in Rhode Island.

A few months later, they stepped out together for a double date with Reynolds and Travis Kelce.

However, since the release of news about the legal battle, the two haven’t been seen together and Lively wasn’t a part of Swift’s guests at the Super Bowl.
