Justin Bieber’s team wants to shut down any rumors circulating about his health once and for all.

Bieber’s rep released a statement to TMZ regarding recent speculation over the singer’s mental and physical condition and alleged drug use—a narrative that they deem “exhausting and pitiful.”

The rep added, “Despite the obvious truth, people are committed to keeping negative, salacious, harmful narratives alive.”

Contrary to public opinion, Bieber—who welcomed his first child, Jack Blues, with wife Hailey Bieber in August—has altered his life for the better.

His rep said that the past year has been “very transformative for him as he ended several close friendships and business relationships that no longer served him.” His current priorities lie with Hailey, their son, his health, and his art, the rep said.

Rumors about the musician’s health began to swirl after a string of recent public appearances, in which fans claimed he looked tired or behaved erratically.

TMZ reports that Bieber’s appearance was due to recording music all night and caring for baby Jack, who was struggling to fall asleep.

Bieber has spoken candidly about his previous struggles with substance abuse. In 2021, he told GQ that his security guards would come into his room at night to check on his pulse.

“There was a sense of still yearning for more,” he told the magazine. “It was like I had all this success and it was still like: I’m still sad, and I’m still in pain. And I still have these unresolved issues.

And I thought all the success was going to make everything good. And so for me, the drugs were a numbing agent to just continue to get through.”

He explained how this dark period in his life coincided with his loss of “control of my vision for my career.” He continued, “There’s all these opinions.

And in this industry, you’ve got people that unfortunately prey on people’s insecurities and use that to their benefit. And so when that happens, obviously that makes you angry.

And then you’re this young angry person who had these big dreams, and then the world just jades you and makes you into this person that you don’t want to be.

And then you wake up one day and your relationships are fucked up and you’re unhappy and you have all this success in the world, but you’re just like: Well, what is this worth if I’m still feeling empty inside?”
