Susanna Reid was noticeably absent from Good Morning Britain on Tuesday morning, after pulling out of the show at the last minute due to a family emergency. 

The popular broadcaster had been scheduled to co-host the program as usual, but her sudden absence was addressed at the start of the episode.

Ranvir Singh Steps in for Susanna

As the show began, Ranvir Singh, who stepped in as Susanna’s replacement alongside Ed Balls,

explained the reason for her unexpected departure. Addressing viewers, Ranvir shared:

“A very good morning to you, and of course, you will be wondering where Susanna is this morning.

Well, one of her boys has been taken unwell overnight, and so she needs to stay with him, but we are here for you this morning.”

The 53-year-old journalist is a devoted mother to three sons—Sam, 22, Finn, 20, and Jack, 19—whom she shares with her ex-partner, journalist Dominic Cotton. As a dedicated parent, it was clear that Susanna’s priority was to be by her son’s side during his illness.

Absence Follows Her Return from Summer Break

Her sudden departure from Good Morning Britain came just a day after she had returned to the show following her annual summer break. Susanna had taken time off to enjoy a well-earned holiday with her three sons, and she had spoken fondly of their trip upon her return.

Reflecting on her summer getaway, she revealed that she had spent time in Ibiza with her boys, a destination she has visited for a decade. However, this year’s experience was a little different, as her sons are now old enough to enjoy the island’s famous nightlife.

“This summer, I took my boys to Ibiza,” she shared. “I have been going for ten years, and it was amazing to really enjoy it with my boys now they are old enough to go clubbing. We go to the day clubs together, and then I go back to the hotel while they head off to the nightclubs!”

Susanna had seemed refreshed and excited to be back on Good Morning Britain after her time away, and her return was warmly welcomed by fans.
