Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid was visibly moved as she reflected on an emotional interview with the parents of six-year-old Bebe King,

who tragically lost her life during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport last year.

The heartbreaking segment aired on Monday morning, marking the first time the families of two of the three young girls murdered

by Axel Rudakubana spoke publicly about their devastating loss.

Divided into three parts, the interview gave the grieving families a platform to share their memories, express their grief, and pay tribute to their daughters.

One of the most poignant moments came during the second segment, which focused exclusively on Bebe’s parents.

A Mother’s Powerful Words

Choosing to remain anonymous for privacy reasons, Bebe’s mother spoke candidly about her daughter’s legacy, ensuring that her memory would not be overshadowed by the horrific crime that took her life. In an emotional statement, she expressed her determination to keep Bebe’s true essence alive.

“Remove Bebe from the past couple of weeks, and she was a human being. She was a beautiful, funny, crazy, gorgeous girl, and her legacy, it can’t be defined by what’s happened,” she said.

Fighting back tears, she continued, “I feel like a lioness, and I’ve got to protect my child and make sure that people know she isn’t defined by this. She was pure light, she was pure joy. It’s just really important to us to let people know.”

Her heartfelt words struck a deep chord with the Good Morning Britain team, especially Susanna Reid and her co-host Ed Balls.

Emotional Reactions in the Studio

As the broadcast returned to the studio after the interview, emotions ran high. Ed Balls, visibly affected by the conversation, struggled to hold back tears.

Meanwhile, Susanna, appearing choked up, took a deep breath before acknowledging the incredible strength of Bebe’s parents.

“Remarkable people, aren’t they?” she said, her voice thick with emotion.

Ed then turned to Susanna, acknowledging how difficult the interview must have been for her. He recalled her emotional response last August, when the tragedy first unfolded. “How did you go about it? Because I remember how upset you were last August,” he asked.

Susanna, deeply moved, responded simply, “They want their daughters’ spirit kept alive.”

Keeping Bebe’s Light Shining

Throughout the discussion, Susanna emphasized how Bebe’s parents were choosing to focus on the light rather than the darkness of their grief. She highlighted how they constantly look for “shimmers” of hope and positivity, ensuring that their daughter’s memory remains one of joy rather than tragedy.

“What was wonderful about talking to them is that they are constantly looking for the light, for the shimmers… You just get that sense that, through all of the grief and trauma they are feeling, she [Bebe] is like a light shining… This is the Bebe they want you to know.”

This sentiment resonated deeply with viewers, many of whom expressed their support and sympathy for the grieving families.

A Tragic Loss That Shook a Community

Bebe King’s tragic murder, along with the loss of two other young girls, sent shockwaves through the Southport community and beyond.

The senseless act of violence robbed three families of their beloved daughters and left an entire nation in mourning.

Despite their unimaginable grief, Bebe’s parents have shown remarkable courage in sharing their story, determined to keep their daughter’s memory alive in a way that honors who she truly was.

Rather than allowing her name to be forever linked to tragedy, they are ensuring that people remember the vibrant, joyful, and loving child she was.

Honoring Bebe’s Legacy

The interview with Bebe’s parents was not only a heartbreaking reminder of the pain they continue to endure but also a powerful testament to their resilience.

Through their words, they painted a picture of a little girl filled with light, laughter, and love—qualities they are determined to preserve in the public’s memory.

As Susanna Reid and Ed Balls struggled to contain their own emotions, it became clear that this was more than just an interview. It was an opportunity to give a grieving family the space to share their daughter’s story on their own terms.

And in doing so, they ensured that Bebe King will always be remembered for the joy she brought to those who knew her, rather than the tragedy that took her away too soon.
