Aussie actor and radio host Cameron Daddo has opened up about a harrowing health ordeal involving three aneurysms which had doctors fearing the worst.

Popular radio host and 90s actor Cameron Daddo has revealed the terrifying moment doctors informed him he may not make it through this year.

Daddo had a CT scan performed at the end of last year after experiencing a sore stomach related to parasites, but the scan results signaled something far more complicated.

His doctor instead detected three aneurisms which required surgery to insert ten stents so blood could properly flow from his heart down to his legs.

The multi-faceted actor, who turned 60 just a month after his lifesaving surgery, also had to spend several days in intensive care.

“There was no reason for me to go to the doctor other than I had a sore belly – but that was because I had a parasite because I ingested dirty water at the beach,” Daddo told the Daily Telegraph.

“So it was completely accidental. The GP, bless him, he picked it up, sent me to a specialist, the specialist said, ‘You have to get these aneurisms taken care of because there’s a good chance you may not make it through next year.’ “So I did. That was my summer, resting, waiting for a spot in the public healthcare system to get those aneurisms repaired with stents.

“So I’m all connected, I’m plumbed, and the blood is running the way it needs to and the aneurisms are now all protected and I’m back to 100 per cent health.”

Daddo’s wife Alison Brahe, with whom he shares three children, has said her husband’s health ordeal took a toll on her as well.

Alison said the pair were equally shocked by the aneurism diagnosis as since she’s known Daddo, he has “barely had a sick day” in his life.

“And then he went to hospital and they took him really quickly and I walked him up and Cam said, ‘Is this the part where I say goodbye?’” Alison said.

“So we had a big hug and a kiss and I was all smiles like, ‘Yep honey, I can’t wait to see you when you come out’ – and got into the lift and bawled my eyes out.”

The couple who have been together for over three decades revealed plans to relaunch their popular Nova podcast Separate Bathrooms under a new title called The Heart of It.

Through the podcast, they aim to be of “service” to people and provide relationship advice.

Inspiration for the idea sprung up after the pair received numerous messages and questions from fans about the secret to their long-term marriage and their “best life”.

However, Daddo and his wife’s marriage wasn’t always this picture-perfect, with the actor famously making headlines after cheating on Alison in 1994.

In 2021, the Aussie actor spoke about hurting his wife with his infidelity just three years after tying the knot in 1991.

Daddo further revealed his marriage was never the same after confessing to his infidelity and admitted it took a “hell of a lot of work” for the couple to reach a happy place.

They attributed their relationship’s success to marriage counselling.

“It is so important to find the right therapist for you. The one we found was our second choice, as the first one was a terrible experience,” Alison said.

Daddo’s career spans over 30 years in the entertainment industry working in acting, directing, musical theatre, singing and song writing and television and radio host.

At just 21-year-old he became the youngest host of an Australian game show after securing a gig on the 1980s dating show Perfect Match.

He left Australia for the US in 1992 with Alison Brahe to pursue acting, appearing in the Melrose Place spin-off Models Inc and recurring parts on a number of other shows, including 24, NCIS and The Mentalist.
