Married at First Sight’s Jacqui Burfoot and Clint Rice have erupted in a tense on-air exchange just hours after the shock truth behind their ‘engagement’ was exposed.

Married at First Sight’s newly engaged couple Jacqui Burfoot and Clint Rice have hung up on Fitzy & Wippa during a tense on-air exchange just hours after an insider exposed the truth about their wedding-to-be.

Jacqui and Clint, who were ‘married’ to Ryan Donnelly and Lauren Hall respectively on the TV megahit, got engaged at So Dramatic’s season 12 finale viewing party at Arcade Bar in Sydney on Sunday evening.

To the shock of their present cast and fans watching, Clint got down on one knee about four months into their whirlwind relationship to present Jacqui with a $30,000 5-carat ring from Simon Curwood Jewellers.

The couple spoke to Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Tuesday morning, where they lifted the lid on their life post-show and whether or not Channel Nine will televise their forthcoming wedding.

However, what was supposed to be a congratulatory chat soon turned sour when Fitzy grilled Jacqui about her treatment of Ryan throughout their nine-week relationship, and she refused to answer his questions.

“Jacqui, can I hold you up there? Because Clint wasn’t the first one that you approached on the show,” the radio host said.

“You’re obviously married to Ryan, but you did approach Jeff and asked if you could catch up with Jeff (Gobbels), which got Rhi (Disljenkovic) really upset. Then you offered…”

Jacqui swiftly interjected, saying: “I’ll just stop you there. We came on this to speak about our engagement and happy times, and we were getting a lot of backlash.”

“And we’re not in a position to talk about the show right now. We’re trying to leave that in the past, and we’d love to just move on,” she said.

Fitzy attempted to press Jacqui further about her relationship with Ryan, prompting Clint to say the couple were “going to head off.”

“Look before we go. I was just disappointed, Jacqui, I was disappointed with the way that you went out with a bang in your final vows. I just thought the way that you spoke to Ryan, I thought that you really spoke down to him, and I….” the host said.

“That’s your third strike…we’re out,” Clint said, before the couple hung up.

Elsewhere in the chat, Clint revealed they would be “open” to a Channel Nine televised wedding.

“We haven’t been approached by Channel Nine yet, but it’s still so early, there’s a lot of things we need to consider around the wedding,” the professional golfer said.

“But we’d be open to the idea for sure!”

Jacqui and Clint said they “noticed” each other while they were still married to their on-screen spouses but the former thought the 43-year-old was “too good” for her.

The development comes just hours after 2022 Love Island star Stella Hutcheon, who was invited to Sunday’s event-turned-engagement party, revealed groom Dave Hand let slip the pre-planned engagement.

“Okay. I’ve got a little bit of tea. Basically, before all of that happened, Dave (Hand) came up to me and said that something big was going to happen on that night. And nothing else happened,” Hutcheon told Robin, Kip and Corey Oates on Brisbane’s KIIS 97.3 on Tuesday.

“So, I’m like, was that pre-planned? Do you know what I mean? Because why would Dave know that.”

It’s understood the couple began texting and calling regularly two weeks after the former lawyer dumped Ryan in a scathing speech at Final Vows.

Clint then flew her to his home state of Tasmania, where they allegedly fell in love trekking the countryside, meeting each other’s families and living at the professional golfer’s million-dollar home near Launceston.

Jacqui was last month granted an interim restraining order against Ryan to stop him from commenting online about her.

Ryan subsequently applied for an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) against his on-screen ‘wife’ at Campbelltown Courthouse, which is due for a mention on April 23.
