‘It still doesn’t feel real, it’s like pinch me,’ Hamburger said on Sunrise.
Marshall Hamburger has been named Australian Idol for 2025.
In Monday night’s edge-of-your-seat finale, Gisella Colletti from Perth, Marshall Hamburger from the Sunshine Coast and Iilysh Terallick from NSW, all competed for the title.
However, it was Hamburger who took home the $100,000 cash prize. He will also receive a recording package with Hive Studios.
Hamburger appeared alongside Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington on Sunrise, saying he is still in shock.
“It still doesn’t feel real, it’s like pinch me,” Hamburger said.

“It’s absolutely crazy, I feel so honoured and so blessed that I was even able to do this journey.
“I’m just so grateful.”
The conversation moved to how he intended on spending his prize money, with the young musician saying it would go towards new music gear, as he worked on a tour.
“The plan is to spend it on a bunch of music gear, then really get to work on a tour,” he said.
“We want to work on that straight away.
“I want to pay mum and dad some money back, because they have been spending thousands of dollars on coming back and forth for shows, but I’ll try and give them the money.
“I don’t think they’ll take it. They’ve said no, but maybe I’ll sneak in a couple just like on a holiday.”
Hamburger was then questioned on what his album would look like.
“It’s a bit like what I do on Idol, I suppose more like that higher love performance. Bit of what I did with Benson Boon, that sort of vibe. Bit of like, soul pop,” he said.
Marshall joked he might use his surname “Hamburger” in the title of his debut album.
During the finale, Marshall picked the 1981 hit Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic by The Police.
He was lost for words following the win, saying Aussies will see him a lot in the future.
Gisella Colletti was eliminated first, but faced it with a gracious attitude.
“I left my heart out on that stage. I’m never turning back, no matter what happens, I’m so ready to go out there and make my own music,’ she said.
Iilysh performed the Alanis Morrisette hit, You Oughta Know, before her elimination.
