New Weekend Sunrise host David Woiwod has opened up about his experience working alongside veteran presenter Monique Wright.
The journalist, 40, who joined the breakfast show in December, said stepping into the co-host chair beside Wright has been one of the most rewarding shifts of his career.
‘She’s so special – she is this triple threat right, a polished performer, newshound and stand-up comedian wound up in this one ball of energy,’ Woiwod told The Daily Telegraph.
‘I couldn’t be luckier to be sitting next to her.’
He added that Wright had such a friendly and engaging personality that he couldn’t imagine anyone not getting along with her.
‘From my perspective, you’d have to be made of wood not to get on with this woman,’ he said.

Channel Seven announced Woiwod as the new host of Weekend Sunrise after Matt Doran stepped back from the role in December.
Woiwod is no stranger to breakfast TV, having been a Sunrise reporter for four years after first joining Seven in 2016.
Known for his cheeky banter, Woiwod has also covered some of the biggest stories of the last four years, including the US presidential election and the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
He also reported on the tragic school shootings in the US in Texas and Tennessee as well as natural disasters that wreaked havoc stateside including hurricanes, fires and floods.
Other notable events covered by Woiwod include the fatal Titan Submersible accident and the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
Last year he scored an exclusive for Seven when he gained access to Guantanamo Bay to cover the Bali Bomber trial.
In 2020, Woiwod was left red-faced after he mispronounced Ellen DeGeneres’ name during a live cross on Sunrise.
The journalist, who hails from Melbourne, called the talk show host ‘Allan DeGeneres’ as he reported on her Covid-19 diagnosis.

The 40-year-old Seven stalwart has been known on air as ‘Woi’ since he joined the network in 2016.
Critics noticed that the Sunrise team has taken to using the affectionate ‘brand’ and a bizarre theory emerged over the nickname.
However, some armchair critics wondered whether the move was a ‘directive’ from management.
Commenting on the TV industry blog Media Spy, one viewer pointed out that Woiwod had been called ‘Woi’ by weatherman Sam Mac and sports commentator Mark Berretta during an episode of Sunrise.
The viewer also added that Weekend Sunrise weatherman James Tobin also called him ‘Woi’.
Sunrise is known for its informal and relaxed presentation style with former host David Koch being affectionately dubbed ‘Kochie’ during his two decades on the show.
