From Bridget and Emmie-Rose’s dramatic walkout to Farmer Thomas and Clarette’s steamy kiss, Monday night’s episode of Farmer Wants A Wife was filled with plenty of dramatic moments. There was one scene, however, that left viewers scratching their heads and asking the same question online.

At the start of the episode, each of the farmers’ remaining contestants was shown arriving at their farm to join the lucky lady who had been given the 24-hour date. Clarette, Nathania and Rachael drove to Kimba, South Australia, to meet up with Claire and Farmer Thomas, while his fifth contestant, Ellen, was nowhere to be seen.

Fans quickly took to social media to point out the “missing” contestant, with many saying it was “bizarre” that the show didn’t explain her absence.

“Why does Thomas only have four girls?” one person asked, while another added, “Where’s Ellen off Farmer Thomas’ farm?”.

“There were only 3 girls in the car that arrived at the farm. One girl did not make the trip, probably never left Sydney… Maybe changed her mind after being chosen to go to Kimba?” a third speculated.

“This season is confusing. They should have provided some explanation for the missing girl instead of leaving us all wondering,” a different user remarked, followed by someone else who said, “It’s not a good series production-wise this season, it’s all over the shop”.

While Ellen was ‘missing’ in Monday night’s episode, she is set to return in Tuesday night’s episode at the first social gathering of the season. Each of the Farmers attends Goulburn’s annual rodeo, the Goulburn Bullarama, with their group of contestants and is tasked with choosing someone for a one-on-one date.

Ellen’s mysterious disappearance won’t be explained on the show, but Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal that she was sick in the time between filming the speed dates and moving to Farmer Thomas’ farm, which is why she wasn’t featured in Monday night’s episode.

Ellen’s absence certainly isn’t the only question fans have been asking this season, with many people also wondering why there are only four farmers this season instead of the usual five.

Channel 7 initially announced eight potential farmers on social media last year, and while it was always expected that this would be reduced to a smaller group, this is the first time in the show’s history that there have only been four people selected.

The network has since confirmed in a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle that there were originally five farmers cast this season, but 26-year-old cattle farmer and professional bull rider Jack Rowlandson’s scenes won’t be shown on TV.

“Eureka and Seven have decided not to include Jack Rowlandson’s storyline in the new season of Farmer Wants A Wife. We will not be providing any further comment,” they said.

Little is known about why Jack was removed from the show, however, there is speculation that it’s because he wasn’t ready to settle down.
