As Channel Seven gears up for the next season of Farmer Wants A Wife, the network has been sharing its many success stories on social media. Over the last few weeks, they have posted several videos proving that the show has worked and that many of their farmers have, indeed, found a wife!

The sweet videos have reminded viewers of the countless happy couples and “27 little Aussies” whose parents met on the show. Now, as the show’s 15th season nears, Seven has been highlighting specific couples’ love stories, including Farmer Dustin Manwaring and Sophie Trethowan from last year’s season.

They also shared photos of Joanna and Rob Hodges, who met on season two of the show in 2008 and have three children together, and a video of Brad and Stacie Crane, who have also had three children together since appearing on the series in 2009.

Viewers have loved the walk down memory lane, but many of them were left demanding the same thing – stop trying to turn it into Married At First Sight and ditch the drama. It’s true that last year’s season, in particular, was quite dramatic. There was Farmer Bert Harris, who didn’t choose anyone, and Farmer Todd Melbourne, who did choose one of his ladies, Daisy Lamb, but the edit didn’t show them in a particularly favourable light, which led to a lot of backlash, to say the least.

“It’s a pity they have totally ruined the original concept,” one viewer wrote on Instagram.

“Exactly… there would be SO many success stories like the early days… if the show was how it was in the early days,” another said.

“Loved the earlier series, so genuine,” a third agreed. “The latest ones don’t seem to be.”

“It was originally a sweet show pity of late they’ve tried to turn it into drama and create MAFS-esque controversy,” someone else pointed out.

“Back when it wasn’t just another episode of MAFS,” one person quipped.

“I still remember how Rob was with Jo. He was smitten from the moment he met her,” another viewer said. “This is truly so lovely to see and congratulations to them both I really hope that Farmer goes back to how it was back in it’s earlier days.”

“I liked how wholesome the first seasons were,” one Facebook user wrote. “True farmers with women who were truely willing to move to the country. Now it looks a bit more like a media stunt for some of the people involved!”

“Series has changed a lot,” yet another agreed. “Hope it goes back to the old way. Much better.”

Many fans were also excited that original host Natalie Gruzlewski would be back as the main host this year after former Sunrise star Samantha Armytage took over for a few seasons.

“This was back when it was a genuinely nice show to watch and Samantha Armytage wasn’t hosting,” one viewer said of the older seasons. “So glad Nat is back.”

“FWAW is so much more entertaining and genuine than MAFS will ever be. So glad Natalie is back at the helm, she makes the show,” another Nat fan said.

“I prefer Nat but didn’t dislike Sam. I wish her nothing but success and I hope they change the direction of the show back to the original format,” a third said.

Sam has since jumped ship to Channel Nine and will host The Golden Bachelor.
