Has Robert found a new romance?

Robert Irwin, the wildlife conservationist and son of the late Steve Irwin, has often made headlines for his dedication to animal welfare and public life.

Yet, his dating history has also attracted interest, and in a rare personal interview, the 21-year-old has opened up about his love life and future relationship goals.

Who is Robert Irwin dating?

Speaking to People in April 2025, Robert confirmed that he was currently single.

“I’m single. It’s funny, I’m at this point in my life where I’m like, I’m so open to that, but I’m just waiting for the stars to align,” he shared.

Despite not being in a relationship, the wildlife warrior did reveal that he has an inkling of where he will meet his partner.

“Interestingly, my parents, my sister Bindi met her husband [Chandler Powell]. Everyone met here at our wildlife sanctuary,” said Robert, adding that his parents, Terri and Steve Irwin, also met when he was visiting the zoo.

“I look at the couple goals in my life. I look at when my brother-in-law Chandler and my sister Bindi met, it was just meant to be, and when my mum and dad met, it was this crazy serendipitous, amazing moment that just was a fluke.”

“In both instances, there were American tourists that were coming over and visiting the zoo, so I’m waiting. I’m waiting for that American tourist to come into the zoo and for it all to happen!”

Prior to confirming his relationship status, sources speaking to Woman’s Day reported that Robert had been secretly seeing someone.

“The whispers at the Australia Zoo is that Robert has been seeing a new love interest since around November. I’d say that Robert will be planning on hard-launching this relationship in the next few weeks prior to I’m a Celebrity.”

Although he did not address the rumours, speculation surrounding his relationship comes just over six months after the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! host was linked to fellow Australia Zoo staff member Charlotte Briggs.

While the pair did not make any comments on the speculation, photographs obtained by the Daily Mail in July 2024 showed the pair walking through Sydney Airport alongside Robert’s mother, Terri, before being later spotted sharing a “flirty display” in their hotel lobby.

Why did Robert and Rorie break up?

Announcing their split in February 2024, Robert Irwin and his former girlfriend Rorie Buckey released a joint statement confirming they had split after 18 months together.

“We wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways but profoundly appreciate all of the time spent together and wish one another the very best into the future,” Robert wrote to Instagram. 

“We wish to express the gratitude and respect we have for one another as we continue our journeys on different paths.”

The pair first began dating in November 2022, and after confirming their relationship in July 2023, Robert and Rorie were spotted on multiple red carpets together across the world.

After going public with their relationship, Rorie and Robert shared their first major international engagement, journeying together to Singapore to attend the 2023 Earthshot Prize Awards.

Robert was among the A-list stars called upon to present at the awards held by His Royal Highness Prince William and the Royal Foundation. Five winners are awarded by the Prince every year for their contributions to environmentalism.

“What an unforgettable night presenting at the Earthshot Prize Awards,” Robert wrote on Instagram, after walking the green carpet with his then-partner. “Thank you to His Royal Highness Prince William for having Rorie and I, and a big thanks to the incredible team, fellow presenters and hosts. A night of hope for the future of our environment.”

Following the event, Rorie shared a snap on Instagram and captioned the post: “I love doing life with you.” “I love you Rorie,” Robert commented.

Throughout their relationship, the couple shared regular updates to social media, with their new romance soon gathering a loyal fan following.

Robert’s sister Bindi Irwin also appeared to be a fan, writing to Instagram in October 2023, “My brother’s gorgeous girlfriend, @roriebuckey. Sweetest soul, beautiful friend, I love her dearly and you’ll usually see [Bindi’s daughter] Grace just following her around because she adores her.”
