A former star of The Project has exposed her husband’s “unforgivable” act that was “worse than cheating” during their tumultuous marriage, prompting a shocked reaction from fans.

Meshel Laurie has exposed her ex-husband Adrian Lewinski’s “unforgivable” act which she declared was worse than cheating.

The 51-year-old former The Project panellist spoke to her Can We Be Real? Podcast co-host Simon Baggs on Thursday where she opened up her unconventional living arrangement with Lewinski, but did not name him in the clip posted on Instagram.

The couple decided to live separately when they reconciled in 2019 after several years apart.

Laurie said she heard the unmistakable sound of her husband watching the post-apocalyptic horror series The Walking Dead at his home one night, joking that was when she knew her “marriage was over”.

“I knew my marriage was over when I was staying at my husband’s house one night and I fell asleep,” she told Baggs.

“And I woke up, and I could hear the unmistakable sound of The Walking Dead coming from the longue room…zombies.

“And I thought he’s watching The f****** Walking Dead without me.”

Laurie said she got up and went to the lounge room, where she told him the act was “unforgivable” and that he had “crossed a line”.

“That was the moment for me when I just felt like he doesn’t care about me anymore,” she said,  before posing the question: “Is this worse than cheating?”

Fans sided with Laurie in the comments, with one person saying: “Yeah, makes sense”.

A second fan said the TV star was being “totally reasonable”, while a third person echoed the sentiment.

“I actually get this,” they said.

Fellow journalist Georgia Rickard also commented with three laughing emojis.

In 2019, Laurie explained her decision to reconcile with Lewinski, with whom she shares two twin children conceived by IVF, to Hughesy & Kate.

“I’ve got the sense not to live with my husband. I don’t think it’s that strange, is it?” she told the former radio duo.

“We broke up, and then we kind of went, ‘Aww, actually, you’re alright for a human’.”

SkyNews.com.au has reached out to Laurie for clarification on whether the couple are still married.

Laurie was a regular The Project panellist from 2014 through 2018 before she took leave in 2019, citing “burnout.”

She later claimed she attempted to return to the Network 10 show but received an email informing her that her “spots were filled for the next couple of months.”

“I asked for leave in February 2019 because my father was literally dying,” Laurie said on Instagram.

“I called the person who booked the panellists three months later to let her know I was ready to come back, and she had to inform me that my spots were filled for the next couple of months.”

“In fact, I was never notified that I was being let go.”

In 2022, Lauren said the network’s intolerance toward her political views and calls to diversify the current affairs program contributed to her being let go.

“I tried for years to get The Project to employ Aboriginal comedians, by the way, and I have the emails to prove it. No interest,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I wrote a thorough pitch document for the executive. No reply. Ever.”
