Following last year’s rumours that she was joining the cast of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, it’s been confirmed that Melissa Leong is set to appear on a similarly adventurous Channel 10 reality show. The Desserts Masters star, who was a judge on MasterChef Australia from 2020 to 2023, is competing in the upcoming season of The Amazing Race Australia.

The full cast for the reality show was announced on Wednesday, with Melissa participating alongside her ‘bestie’ Leah Wilson. The series is hosted by Beau Ryan as celebrities and their loved ones race around the world in the hopes of winning $100,000 for their chosen charities.

Melissa isn’t the only TV presenter amongst this year’s cast, with SAS Australia’s chief instructor Ant Middleton competing alongside his brother Dan. His appearance on the reality show signals his departure from Channel Seven where he fronted SAS from 2020 to 2023, hosted Million Dollar Island in 2023, and competed on Dancing with the Stars last year.

Below Deck star and I’m A Celebrity finalist Aesha Scott is also set to compete alongside her fiancé Scott Dobson, as well as radio host and I’m A Celebrity champion Brendan ‘Fev’ Fevola and his 18-year-old daughter Leni.

Another familiar face for reality TV fans is the original host of Big Brother Australia Gretel Killeen, who is competing with her daughter Epiphany Mason. Gretel’s appearance is likely intended to drum up hype for Channel 10’s upcoming reboot of Big Brother, which will be hosted by Mel Tracina.

Rounding out the cast is four-time Olympian Bronte Campbell and her fiancé Benfield Lainchbury, parkour athlete Dom ‘Tomato’ Di Tommaso and his mate Marx Marsters, married couple Ed Kavalee and Tiffiny Hall, TikTok comedians and brothers Luke O’Halloran and ‘Sassy’ Scott O’Halloran, model Lindy Klim and her daughter Stella Klim, engaged couple Rob Mills and Georgie Tunny, comedian Steph Tisdell and her brother Ben Tisdell, and brothers Stephen Curry and Bernard Curry.

Fans had a mixed response to the cast announcement on social media, with many admitting they didn’t know who most of the celebrities were.

“Who are half of these so-called celebrities?” one person wrote, while another added, “Not one celebrity in sight honey”.

“Who are these people?!” a third remarked, followed by someone else who joked, “Is the celebrity in the room with us?”.

“How about doing a normal season with everyday people?” a different user complained.

There were plenty of people who expressed excitement over the upcoming season, however, with Luke and Sassy Scott emerging as early favourites.

“Team @lukeandsassyscott ❤️ I can’t wait for all the belly laughs from these two,” a fan commented, with another writing, “@lukeandsassyscott for the win. Luke you better behave or Sassy will kick your a**”.

“@lukeandsassyscott I’m watching until you two leave so best you be in it til the end!” someone else shared, while another said, “@lukeandsassyscott yay I can’t wait to see you guys in this. This will be soo funny”.

With filming for the upcoming season only just kicking off this week, fans will have to wait a few months for it to air on TV.

Last year’s season was filmed in May and premiered in September, so this year’s season will likely air at a similar time or even a couple of months earlier given the updated filming schedule.
