Culinary royalty and zaddy Gordon Ramsay has completely shaded the US MasterChef contestants, admitting that our besties from across the globe sometimes require “more guidance” when it comes to finessing the kitchen.
ICYMI, MasterChef Australia: Back To Win has officially begun for 2025, and in true reality TV style, the show kicked off with a bang by bringing in Hell’s Kitchen’s Gordon Ramsay as its first celebrity chef guest!
However, Ramsay’s stint on MasterChef Australia: Back To Win 2025 isn’t the first time he’s graced our screens for the high-pressure cooking comp.
The Hotel Hell host (and yes, I am mentioning Hotel Hell because I think it’s Ramsay’s most underrated show) was previously on MasterChef Australia in 2018 and 2020, and he’s also appeared on the US version as a judge. So, the bloke definitely knows his way around this high-stakes environment.
That being said — with MasterChef Australia being a competition and all that jazz — Ramsay revealed what he truly thinks about the US contestants versus the Aussies, and, unfortunately, for our Americana friends, the beloved chef completely shat on Y’ALL.
Uh ohhhhhh. (Image source: YouTube / MasterChef World)
“There’s something quite humble about the Australian version in the way they forage herbs in the MasterChef Garden, dig up their own vegetables, pick ripe tomatoes, break down whole fish, and pin-bone them,” Ramsay dished to PEDESTRIAN.TV before ripping into the Americans.
“With the American contestants, we have to guide them a bit more — they’re not as tuned in to the seasonality aspect, and there’s more legwork to bring them up to speed. The Australian contestants are much more connected to the foodie natural world — they know butchery, how to fillet fish, how to forage,” he shared.
“The US version requires more guidance.”
OOOFT. As Latrice Royale shared, “the shade, the shade of it alllllllll”.
Maybe Ramsay needs a spot on Drag Race Down Under…
Continuing to reflect on his love for Down Under, Ramsay revealed that one of his favourite memories of Australia was the first time he saw a great white shark.
“We went down the coast outside Melbourne, the famous national park, St Kilda Beach. Absolutely stunning. I even saw my first great white shark at the end of the pier. Breathtaking,” he shared.
As MasterChef Australia: Back To Win 2025’s first celebrity guest, Ramsay tasked our returning contestants with a surprise team service challenge where they had to incorporate carrot and corn into a two-course menu for 20 local heroes within two hours.
Now, to keep this article spoiler-free, we won’t be revealing who won that challenge, but you can see for yourself on 10Play.
MasterChef Australia: Back To Win is playing now on Channel 10 and 10Play.
