Controversial Married at First Sight groom Richard Sauerman has just celebrated his one year anniversary with girlfriend Megan Hawker.

The motivational speaker, 62, took to his social media on Tuesday with a series of heartwarming snaps to celebrate the important milestone.

‘Thank you Margs for putting up with me for a full year,’ he said in the caption.

He continued, ‘Thank you for your love, support, and magnificent company.’

Posting to Instagram, Richard and his sweetheart can be seen sharing a selfie against the background of a gorgeous water view at sunset.

Dressed in a T-shirt and back rimmed spectacles Richard can be seen beaming as Margie, in black singlet top, gives him a big hug.

Another picture features a hand written note with the message: ‘You make my heart smile,’ and includes a drawing of a love heart and smiley face.

He also posted a flattering picture of his blonde love in a summer outfit featuring a white singlet top.

Richard made headlines after being paired with Andrea Thompson, 51, on the Channel Nine dating experiment in 2024.

It was a stormy match that ended with the pair going their separate ways before the end of the season.

Richard announced the couple’s relationship on his social media last June, several months after the pair had becomes an item.

In April, when Richard shared a picture of them together on a Sydney balcony, the MAFS star referred to Margie as a ‘close friend’.

‘Hanging out with my close friend Margie Hawker,’ he wrote alongside the picture.

At the time, MAFS co-star Jack Dunkley commented on the post indicating he knew the couple were an item.

In the tear-filled Commitment Ceremony, the show’s oldest groom yet chose to leave Andrea after they failed to get their romance back on track.

Looking back at his journey on the program, Richard admitted there was one comment he wished he had never made.

He memorably shocked his co-stars with a racy remark about his sex life with Andrea during intimacy week.

He said: ‘We did intimacy week the week before intimacy week. We gazed, we hugged, we f***ed, we s***ed, we did everything, we did the whole lot.’

‘I wouldn’t have said that “we kissed, we licked…” comment at the commitment ceremony during intimacy week,’ Richard told Woman’s Day of his regret.

His comments come after Andrea lifted the lid on her marriage to Richard behind closed doors after sensationally quitting the experiment in March.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia, she said she decided to end things with Richard because the couple’s constant fighting started to make her ‘feel crazy’.

Andrea, meanwhile, debuted her new beau last month.

Taking to Instagram to prove she has well and truly moved on from her TV ‘husband’, saying her new partner Pete is the ‘best human I have ever met’.
