Farmer Wants a Wife winner Sophie Trethowan has opened up about life on the land after matching with Dustin Manwaring on the hit dating show last season.

Sophie, 28, moved onto the 27-year-old’s farm at Condobolin in NSW from her old hometown of Mildura six months ago and now says that it’s been a ‘big lifestyle change’.

‘I’m working from home and kind of on my own a lot more now,’ she explains.

‘Obviously, Dustin works long hours on the farm, so you have to get used to having your own company and driving a lot,’ she said in a new interview with Yahoo Lifestyle on Friday.

She continued: ‘So it’s a big lifestyle change, but it’s been good. He’s got a big family and they’ve all been really great and they all live close by, which is nice.

‘The community of Condo has been really good. We made some new friends and I’m just settling in really.’

Sophie entered FWAW last year while working as a speech therapist and residing in Mildura, Victoria a regional city of 30,000 people, 542km from Melbourne.

Moving to the tiny town of Condobolin, which has a population of just over 3,000, meant that Sophie had to share Dustin’s ‘rustic’ cabin.

And in the Farmer Wants A Wife reunion special last May the pair admitted that staying on his country property has become an issue for the pair.

While she was paying him routine visits, Sophie was reluctant to move to the farm and live in the cabin.

‘It’s definitely a boy’s house. It needs so much done to it. I don’t know if it would pass a health and safety inspection at the moment,’ she said.

‘I moved out of my family home to another little house on the farm. It’s liveable,’ Dustin argued.

However, he confessed that the move ‘put the brakes on’ their relationship as Sophie wasn’t happy with the accommodations and did not want to move to the farm.

‘Fortunately, I haven’t scared her away yet,’ Dustin said during the special, but Sophie admitted the cabin ‘might scare her off’ if he doesn’t fix it and bring in a plumber.

‘Yeah, no, there’s no doubt about it. I’ll do what I’ve got to do,’ Dustin promised her.

Fans online were on Sophie’s side, with many pointing out the cabin looked pretty rough.

‘Maybe should have showed her the dump she was going to be living in before picking her Dustin?’ wrote one person on X.

Another said: ‘That house is a dump. Come on Dustin’ while one more said, ‘It’s downright hazardous’.

‘Sophie – imagine wanting to live in a liveable house. I mean what a city girl,’ joked another.

‘Apparently not even a renovated cottage, could have saved that relationship,’ posted one more.

Someone else wondered: ‘Makes me question what was the fancy houses they stay in during filming’.

‘She nailed it when she said it wouldn’t pass a health and safety check,’ one more laughed.

The couple have been updating their followers on Instagram regularly posted progress on renovations to the cabin.

They also shared the news on the FWAW Instagram account.

‘We’ve been getting along really well and having a great time, and it’s been awesome,’ Dustin told fan and added that they ‘done a fair bit of work to the cottage as well, so that’s been good.

‘Dustin’s got things moving along, and we fixed it up. So yeah, it’s been really great,’ Sophie shared.
