Rachel and Ryan Carr were fan-favourites of The Block in 2022 and years on the couple are getting on the tools again, this time on their very own show Holiday Home Makeover.

In their brand new renovation series, the husband-and-wife duo will makeover their dream holiday home – but if the trailer is anything to go by there will be more than a few hiccups along the way.

With Ryan being a plumber by trade and Rachel a makeup-artist-turned-interior-stylist, it’s easy to assume who heads the build and who is in charge of design on the project.

Or so we thought.

Rachel and Ryan describe themselves as being “stretched to the eyeballs” with the renovation.

“There’s a lot that can go wrong,” Ryan adds.

But nothing good comes easy and a glimpse at the final results of the makeover hints that Rachel and Ryan are bringing the “ultimate fantasy escape to life”.

Rachel and Ryan’s 2022 Block journey wasn’t a conventional one. The pair got a last-minute call to join the competition after another couple Joel and Elle sensationally quit the show.

It was a phone call that changed their lives forever and eventually gave them the opportunity to front their very own show.

After the couple started late, they endured a few difficult weeks before later proving themselves as front-runners in the competition – but an unpredictable Auction Day saw their hopes shattered.

After a disappointing start to the auction with all bids coming in under reserve, Ryan stepped up to negotiate a price with buyer Danny Wallis outside the auction, securing a solid profit of $169,000.85.

The couple have continued to work on their own renovation projects while Rachel has starred on Space Invaders.
