Farmer Wants A Wife fans have been left disappointed over a major detail in the season premiere on Monday night. The first episode saw Farmer Tom, Farmer Thomas, Farmer Jarrad and Farmer Corey meeting the women who would be competing for their hearts, but audiences noticed a major flaw.

Diversity has been a huge constant discussion when it comes to the show over the years, and this year, fans are especially sad to see a lack of different ages and body shapes. Viewers have previously questioned why there are no LGBTQIA+ farmers on the show and have also dubbed the show “Farmer Wants A White Wife”, slamming it for its “zero diversity”.

Upset viewers took to social media to call out the show’s lack of diversity, with one fan writing on Facebook, “It would have been lovely to see more plus-sized women on the show, this would be a better representation and reflection of women who live in Australia.”

Another agreed, writing, “This show has changed from what it once was.”

“What about adding an older farmer?” a third suggested. “Surely there are some widowers out there or divorced farmers who don’t want to grow old alone.”

“I’ve been asking this question for years, are there any older farmers out there?” someone else said. “I’m sure there are, maybe they don’t do so well for the show’s ratings?”

“100 per cent,” another responded. “I’m 62 and cuddly, so definitely not the type Channel 7 would want. It’s not really about finding love, they just want the ratings.”

“That’s why I’ve not bothered watching it this time round,” one person added. “It’s just become a different style of MAFS now.”

Many others pointed out that the women on the show are chosen by the farmers themselves, with one person saying, “The farmers choose the women they want to meet, not the show.”

“The farmers swipe to choose, nothing different than the real world!” another said. “The challenge is convincing the girls to stay in a town of less than 1000.”

It comes after fans have been left wondering why there are only four farmers this season, not the usual five.

Channel 7 initially announced eight potential farmers on social media last year, and although Yahoo Lifestyle understands it was always expected that this would be reduced to a smaller group, this is the first time in the show’s history that there have only been four people selected.

The first nine seasons starred six farmers, and recent seasons have starred five, with the exception of last year when Todd Melbourne was brought in to replace Dean Blanckensee partway through filming.

“Surely there’s a couple more than just four?” one person commented on social media, while another asked, “Why only four farmers?”

Others questioned the sudden disappearance of 26-year-old cattle farmer and professional bull rider Jack Rowlandson from Oberon, NSW, who was initially cast as one of this year’s leading men.

“Where is Farmer Jack?” one fan questioned, followed by someone else who asked, “What happened to Farmer Jack?”.

Channel 7 has confirmed in a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle that there were originally five farmers cast this season, but Jack Rowlandson’s scenes won’t be shown on TV.

“Eureka and Seven have decided not to include Jack Rowlandson’s storyline in the new season of Farmer Wants A Wife. We will not be providing any further comment,” they said.

Little is known about why Jack was removed from the show, however, there is speculation that it’s because he wasn’t ready to settle down.
