The Channel Nine sports presenter’s wedding to 41-year-old personal trainer Todd Liubinskas was called off in September, 2023, just four weeks out from the big day.

The pair were set to tie the knot on October 27 that year at Greystone Estate in the Hunter Valley, NSW.

Mason and Liubinskas were in a relationship for more than three years and became engaged in July 2021.

Friends of Mason described her at the time as “beyond devastated” and “completely heartbroken”.

Eighteen months later, Mason has opened up on the difficult time of her life for a feature with Stellar.

“To be honest, it feels like a lot of time ago now. So much has happened since, and I haven’t actually spoken about it,” she said.

Mason told Stellar the engagement had fallen apart after a breakdown in trust, which led to the wedding being called off after several aspects of the event including flowers had already been organised.

“It certainly was an emotional rollercoaster,” she said.

“When someone hurts you like that, you experience all the emotions from sadness to shock to anger. But sometimes you just have to get through it. You’ve got no option, really … People would ask me, ‘Are you OK?’ And I’d say, ‘Not right now, but I will be.’”

The presenter soldiered on through the difficult period and was without her ring as she performed her sideline duties for Channel Nine’s coverage of the NRL finals series in the last few weeks of the 2023 season.

Mason has become a familiar face during Nine’s NRL broadcasts while she also works across the news and Wide World of Sports presenting.

In addition to her rugby league coverage in 2025, Mason has added another major role to her busy schedule, being appointed Today’s new sports presenter following the sacking of Alex Cullen.

The 34-year-old has also found love again, having been in a relationship with former South Sydney Rabbitohs forward Liam Knight.

The pair are currently communicating long-distance, after Knight secured a contract with Hull FC in the English Super League, following his release from the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs after the 2024 NRL season.
