Britain’s Got Talent Viewers Brand Show ‘Fake’ as They Declare Series is ‘Past It’

Britain’s Got Talent returned for its 18th season on Saturday, February 22, with fans eager to see what new talent would emerge.
However, despite the excitement surrounding the new season, the show quickly found itself under fire from viewers.
Many took to social media to slam the production as “fake”, while others argued that the long-running series has “passed its prime” and should be put to rest.

BGT 2025 Kicks Off With Big Changes and Controversy

The premiere episode saw the longest season of BGT to date officially begin, bringing a fresh lineup of hopefuls to the stage.

But it wasn’t just the contestants making headlines—there was also a temporary shake-up on the judging panel.
Popular YouTube star KSI stepped in to replace Bruno Tonioli during a portion of the auditions while the former Strictly Come Dancing judge was away for another project. However, the decision to bring in KSI didn’t sit well with some fans. Many took to Twitter to express their disappointment, with some even claiming they were switching off the show altogether.
Adding to the drama, the golden buzzer was used twice in the first episode—first for singer Vinnie McKee and later for impressionist Will Burns. While both performances received standing ovations in the theater, audiences at home were not as convinced.
BGT Branded ‘Fake’ as Viewers Criticize Over-the-Top Production
Despite the lively atmosphere in Blackpool’s venue, many viewers watching from home felt the show had lost its authenticity. Some pointed to the excessive slow-motion moments, dramatic crowd reactions, and seemingly scripted applause as signs that the production was being overly manufactured.

Social media erupted with criticism, with many long-time fans comparing the current format to BGT’s early years, when the show first won over audiences.
“This show is so fake it’s embarrassing…,” one frustrated viewer wrote.
“How do people still watch this? It’s so obviously staged,” another added.
Others felt that the series had simply run its course, suggesting that BGT should come to an end after nearly two decades on air.
“I think it’s well past its sell-by date. Time to end.”
“BGT has lost its magic. It needs a break.”
Despite the backlash, many fans were still thrilled to have the show back, with some taking to social media to defend it.
“#BGT IS BACK, BABY!!!” one excited viewer tweeted.
“Good to have #BGT back, let’s enjoy the ride!” another added.

Auzzy Blood’s ‘Disgusting’ Act Leaves Viewers Horrified
While the debate over BGT’s authenticity raged on, one act in particular left viewers absolutely stunned—and not in a good way.
Extreme performer Auzzy Blood, a sword swallower and Guinness World Record holder, took the stage with one of the most shocking and gruesome acts in the show’s history.
His dangerous stunts included pushing metal rods down his throat and hanging from the ceiling using only a metal spike hooked through his nostril. The judges were visibly shaken, with Simon Cowell looking like he was about to be sick, while Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli could barely watch.
The shocking performance divided the audience, with many viewers expressing their disgust and concern over whether such an act should be allowed on a family-friendly primetime show.
“This was way too disgusting for a Saturday night show. I love danger acts, but this went too far,” one fan complained.
“Well, that was absolutely horrifying,” another viewer wrote.
However, some fans were impressed by Auzzy’s dedication to his extreme craft.
“I think that’s the most terrifying and disgusting but amazing thing I’ve ever seen on #BGT,” a viewer admitted.

What’s Next for BGT 2025?
While the controversy over the show’s authenticity and the shocking auditions continue to divide fans, one thing is certain—Britain’s Got Talent is still capable of getting people talking.
As the longest season in BGT history unfolds, it remains to be seen whether the show can win back skeptical viewers or if the claims that it has “lost its magic” will continue to grow louder.
With more auditions, jaw-dropping performances, and golden buzzer moments to come, the question remains—is BGT still as entertaining as it once was, or is it time for the show to take a final bow?
