Joy Behar made her much-anticipated return to The View on Tuesday after taking a brief hiatus to focus on her latest stage production, My First Ex-Husband.

However, despite being back at the Hot Topics table, it seemed her mind was still partially on the New York City theater scene,

as she had a brief but amusing mix-up during the live broadcast.

The 82-year-old television personality jumped right into the discussion as the panel analyzed recent speculation

that former President Donald Trump is working to implement aspects of Project 2025, a controversial political agenda.

Goldberg Criticizes Trump’s Alleged Distance From Project 2025

Whoopi Goldberg led the conversation, expressing her skepticism over Trump’s denials regarding Project 2025.

She pointed out how the former president has a habit of shifting responsibility away from himself, making it easy for him to dismiss any association with the initiative.

“There are those people who come out and they have that thing, you know. I just find it so interesting because… he’s put so much power in so many different people’s hands. He set them all up to fail and, I said it yesterday, for him to have no responsibility,” Goldberg explained.

She continued, “So, when they say, ‘Hey, that guy Elon Musk did this,’ he says, ‘I don’t know, I had nothing to do with it.’ Like when he said [he’s] never heard of Project 2025, never heard of it, never saw the book, don’t know what you’re talking about.”

As Goldberg concluded her thoughts, Behar—who had been listening intently—jumped in with a remark that left the studio audience and her cohosts in stitches.

Behar’s On-Air Blunder

Without realizing that she was repeating Goldberg’s point almost word-for-word, Behar chimed in seconds later, saying, “Well, he also lied about this 2025 thing that he’s doing.”

Her cohost, Sara Haines, immediately burst into laughter along with the audience. “She just said that!” Haines playfully pointed out, teasing Behar for echoing Goldberg’s statement.

Realizing her mistake, Behar quickly explained that she was still feeling a bit under the weather following her time off. “I know, I’m sorry, you know, I’m still a little sick. I’m a little tired. I thought I heard it somewhere!” she joked.

Goldberg, ever the seasoned moderator, took the moment in stride and smoothly transitioned the show into a commercial break, allowing the laughter to settle.

Behar’s Absence and the Headlines She Missed

Behar’s time away from The View was due to her commitment to launching My First Ex-Husband, a theatrical project she has been passionate about. During her absence, the daytime talk show still made plenty of headlines.

One of the biggest moments she missed was the return of former panelist Star Jones, who temporarily rejoined the cohosting lineup. Jones, a longtime staple of The View, brought a wave of nostalgia and insightful commentary to the show, much to the delight of longtime fans.

Additionally, Goldberg used the time to address a concerning AI scam that had been misusing her likeness to promote fraudulent weight-loss products. The Ghost actress took a strong stand against the deceptive ads, warning viewers not to trust any promotions using AI-generated images of her unless she personally endorses them.

A Classic Behar Moment

While Behar’s on-air blunder was a lighthearted moment, it was also a perfect example of why audiences love her. Her candid, unfiltered personality has been a defining trait throughout her years on The View, making her one of the show’s most beloved and long-standing cohosts.

Even though she was momentarily caught off guard, her ability to laugh at herself—and Goldberg’s effortless way of keeping the conversation moving—only added to the charm of the morning’s discussion.

Now back in her seat at the Hot Topics table, Behar is sure to bring more lively debates, sharp-witted humor, and, of course, the occasional hilarious slip-up that keeps audiences tuning in.
