Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway has taken on an exciting new role as the host of a brand-new podcast and YouTube series.

The eight-part series, DXB Unheard, launched on Monday, February 10, and will explore the lesser-known side of Dubai, sharing the incredible experiences and stories of its residents.
Exploring the Hidden Side of Dubai
In DXB Unheard, Kate will guide listeners and viewers through a deep dive into Dubai’s rich culture, highlighting untold stories and remarkable personal journeys.

The series aims to go beyond the city’s well-known glitz and glamour, focusing on the people who live and work there, including both locals and expatriates.

Speaking about her new venture, Kate shared her excitement about shedding light on an unseen side of Dubai.

“In this series, I get to introduce you to people who want to open your eyes and your mind to another Dubai—the one that is unheard of,” she said.
“It is a place where east meets west, where women can and do lead the way, where science is saving resources, and selflessness is saving lives.”
A Personal Journey for Kate
Kate, who has visited Dubai multiple times, explained how the experience of hosting DXB Unheard allowed her to gain a deeper understanding of the city. Through her conversations with Dubai residents, she discovered a different perspective on life in the metropolis.
“I’ve been to Dubai a few times, but it was through these conversations in people’s homes, restaurants, offices, and places of cultural significance that I’ve really been able to understand a different side of Dubai,” she revealed. “It’s so special to understand more about how the people of Dubai—both locally raised and expats—live and work together.”

Describing the city as a “tapestry of stories woven together”, Kate emphasized the importance of sharing narratives that often go unnoticed. DXB Unheard aims to celebrate these hidden stories, offering a fresh perspective on life in Dubai.
Stories of Inspiration and Success
Each episode of DXB Unheard will feature a different guest, highlighting their unique experiences and contributions to the city. Among those featured in the series is Bakhita al-Muhairi, the first Emirati female commercial pilot, who has broken barriers in the aviation industry.
Another guest is former England rugby player Mathew Tait, who shares insights into his experiences living in Dubai. The premiere episode of the series focuses on the story of Isobel Abulhoul OBE, a British expatriate who played a significant role in the city’s literary scene.

Originally from Cambridge, Isobel moved to Dubai in the 1960s to start a new life with her Emirati husband. Reflecting on her journey, she spoke about her passion for literature and her efforts to cultivate a literary culture in the UAE.
“I left the UK to start a new life with my Emirati husband. I had little idea of what to expect, but I knew that there were so many stories just waiting to be told,” she said. “I wanted to create spaces for readers and writers alike to celebrate the joy of literature.”
Isobel, who serves as the founder, advisor, and trustee of the Emirates Literature Foundation, has witnessed the UAE’s literary scene evolve over the past five decades.
“So much has changed over the past 50 years, and the UAE’s literary scene has developed dramatically from when I first touched down on that small runway all those years ago,” she added
. “Dubai is a cultural hub for literature, and I hope listeners come away from the series keen to discover Dubai’s unique stories for themselves.”

Where to Listen and Watch
For those eager to explore the unheard stories of Dubai, DXB Unheard is available across multiple platforms. New episodes will be released every Monday and can be accessed on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music.
