The Block‘s Dani Reilly has shared an incredible tribute following the loss of her and husband Dan’s daughter Billie.

The couple announced the passing of their daughter, Billie Vera Reilly, in December 2024 at 10 days old.

Dani shared a large artwork from artist Kerry Armstrong, “who, in a powerful tribute to love, loss, and legacy, has created this breathtaking piece titled ‘I Am Love’, dedicated to @danreilly_official, myself, and our beautiful Billie”.

Dani said she felt deep gratitude for Kerry’s decision to donate 100 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of the painting, valued at $22,800, to Dan and Dani’s charitable fund supporting NICU services via The Royal Women’s Hospital.

“When I think of Billie and the impact she continues to have, I can’t help but smile (even through tears), always,” Dani shared.

“Knowing this artwork was created in her honour makes it all the more meaningful,” she continued.

“In a world that can feel heavy, we’re constantly reminded of the light. It’s everywhere. And people are truly extraordinary.”

Dan, showing his support, simply shared Dani’s post with a large love heart emoji.

On her Instagram account, artist Kerry shared why she felt so compelled to paint this piece.

“Billie’s reach is wide, so many people have been touched by her story and the light she brought to the world in such a short time,” she shared.

“I felt a million things and like everyone, cried so many tears for this beautiful young family. The only response that had meaning and purpose on that day was to paint those ethereal moments and deep maternal feelings, then write the verse coming through to me (now written on the back of the piece).”

She hoped that donating the painting the fundraising efforts would “be a small part in assisting and just being there for other families in their time of great need”.

Kerry also shared the verse she had been inspired to write: “I will temp you, I am love, I will hold you – I am love, I will bruise you – I am love, I will teach you – I am love, I will do it all in my time – I am love, I will be forever – I am love.”

Dan and Dani shared Billie’s story on her official fundraising page.

“After three long years, our dream of becoming parents finally came true. Through IVF, we conceived our Billie – a much-wanted and deeply loved baby girl. From the very beginning, she was strong, thriving through pregnancy, and we couldn’t wait to meet her.

“But in the moments before her arrival, everything changed. Billie suffered distress during birth, the cause of which will never be known, and her tiny body was deprived of oxygen for too long.

“Despite the incredible efforts of the NICU team, the damage was too severe, and our beautiful Billie was unable to survive.”

For 10 days The Women’s NICU became home for Dan, Dani and Billie.

“The doctors, nurses, and staff (affectionately known as ‘Billie’s Besties’) didn’t just care for Billie; they cared for us as a family. They held space for our love, our grief, and our need to make memories in the time we had.”

In honour of Billie, Dan and Dani want to give back to the team that gave them “irreplaceable moments” with their daughter and so far have raised $35,263 of their $100,000 goal.
