It hasn’t been long since this year’s season of Married At First Sight finished airing, but Dave Thomas Hand has already announced he’s returning to reality TV. The fan favourite groom revealed on Instagram this week that he will be making a cameo appearance on the upcoming season of The Block, which is currently filming in Daylesford, Victoria.

Dave, who is a caulking specialist and owns his own business, Silicone Valley Caulking, posted a photo with The Block’s Foreman Dan Reilly and tiler Adrian Cursio. The smiling trio posed in front of The Block’s McCafé in hi-vis outfits, with Dave writing in the caption: “The block heads #crossover”.

While some fans speculated that Dave would be appearing as a contestant on the renovation series, he tells Yahoo Lifestyle he only made a brief appearance as a tradesman.

“Pretty cool to get a photo with Dan to be honest, I’ve watched him for years,” he remarks. “I’m just there working and helping out some friends. Can’t say too much, but it was super fun. I’m just a tradesman working like all the other boys on site.”

Dave went on to say that he would love to compete on The Block one day alongside his MAFS co-star Billy Belcher, but he’s “not holding [his] breath”.

“I have other goals I’m currently focused on,” he shares, before adding, “Dave and Billy on The Block does sound pretty cool though.”

This comes shortly after Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels responded to rumours that they would be appearing on an upcoming season of the reality show.

An insider told Woman’s Day that Channel Nine are “keen to invest in their love story” and they’re “being geared up to be the face of the show” following their positive portrayal on MAFS. While it’s unlikely they will appear on this year’s season of The Block as filming is already underway, the couple told Yahoo Lifestyle they’d be very interested in competing on the show in the future.

“When I saw [the rumours], I actually got a little bit excited,” Jeff remarked. “I thought it’d be a great fit for us to go on The Block. It’s a show that I’ve actually watched for a few years and I find it really entertaining.

“I had a great experience with what we just went through on Married At First Sight personally, and I love Channel Nine and all the production there. I think it’s a great fit, so who knows what will happen down the track?”

Rhi added that although she doesn’t have any experience in home renovations, she would “definitely” say yes to the opportunity.

“I’m not sure how handy I would be, but I’m sure I could paint,” she said with a laugh.

“I’ve expressed my resilience during the MAFS experiment, so I feel like I could be just as resilient on The Block and just pull out some things I never knew I could do. So yeah, I’d definitely give it a go. I think it’d be amazing.”
